held at College of the Atlantic Bar Harbor, Maine 19 - 25 August, 2007 Workshop sessions The 2007 workshop was held on the campus of the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, From Aug 19 (Sunday check in)-Aug 25 (Saturday departure). It is an absolutely breathtaking waterfront setting, a short drive to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. See the website www.coa.edu for more information The small private school specializes in human ecology and the marine environment. There are several gardens on the campus, a pier, a natural history museum, and many of the old 1850-1900 mansions that are so prevalent in this part of Maine. Participation in this workshop was limited to members of the Nature Printing Society. Information on becoming a member is available by following the link. There was comfortable dormitory style housing, 2/room with bathrooms close by. There was also a kitchen for every floor and wing of the 2-story dormitory. Meals were in the cafeteria. Room/board for the week was $420 ($50.00 additional for single occupancy) and $175 workshop fee. Total workshop costs $595. There were additional supply costs for individual workshops and a fee for the optional annual banquet. We had 4 classrooms, 3 for concurrent classes, and one for open printing. Classes were offered in both fish and botanical printing. As of the initial posting date, we were honored to have the following NPS members as instructors: Monday: Mineo Yamamoto-indirect crab printing; Don Jensen- Direct Fish Printing 101; Hebe Bartz- Day 1 of two-day class in Nature Printing in Precious Metal Clay; Erika Reichenbach- Plant Printing in Kiwi Style (viscosity plant printing). Tuesday: Mineo Yamamoto: Indirect fish printing; Linda Cole Printing: Natural History Journals (half day, both AM and PM sessions); Gudrun Garkisch - Beginning Plant Printing Bob Little style Half day-AM, Plant printing with a Press- John Fass Method- half day -PM), Charles Morgan; Nature Printing with Non-toxic etching Plates. Thursday: Ian Workman- Fish Printing in the Field, Day 2 of Hebe Bartz 2-day Nature Printing in Precious Metal Clay, Lynda Goldberg- Mono Printing with an Etching Press. Friday Heather Fortner- "Making a
Scene" with Gyotaku and Seaweed; Charles Morgan- Foilography-
Nature Printing with an Aluminum Plate; Barbara Frey-Plant Printing on
Silk.
